Excellence is a kingdom quality of surpassing the ordinary standards. Daniel had the spirit of excellence in abundance. We all should strive to do extremely well in everything we do. When God created everything in the beginning he summed up with a remark of goodness. “God saw that it was good”. When we walk out of our homes, when our children show up at school, in our churches everywhere we are, we must demonstrate this kingdom quality of excellence. We must break free from every form of mediocrity and strive for eminence.
Excellence is not being expensive. It should not be costly to be presentable. That old car you have can demonstrate excellence if well kept and maintained. With that one suit or outfit, excellence can be your middle name. I have visited many homes, churches and places where you can see that these people enjoy privileges of relative plenty yet they lack the spirit of excellence. Despite the presence of resources, disorder and confusion will quickly shout out. I have also observed some people, churches and homes living on marginal resources yet the spirit of excellence prevails. As children of God we should display the highest level of excellence. The way we keep our bodies, the way we raise our children and conduct our businesses should preach the goodness of God
Christianity is not looking hopeless, rugged and stressed as some would want to portray. Children of God should be smiling and jubilant. Our God is a God of excellence. His name is excellent. Psalm148:13 Let them praise the name of the LORD: for his name alone is excellent; his glory is above the earth and heaven.
Everything that God does is excellent. It is the very nature of God to do excellent and marvelous things. Isaiah 12:5 Sing unto the LORD; for he hath done excellent things: this is known in all the earth.
Isaiah 28:29 This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
The Jews of Jesus’ times often marvelled at the level of His wisdom and excellence. Everything about Jesus was excellent and glorious. Having accomplished His mission on earth, Jesus Christ obtained a more excellent name. Everyone therefore believing in Jesus Christ should be distinctly excellent
Hebrews1:4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
Fellow brethren, God is calling us to excellence. Proverbs17:27 He that hath knowledge spareth his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
God wants us to be models of exemplary standing in everything. Excellence is of no exception. All of us, young and old, should possess this spirit of excellence
Titus2:7 -8 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8 Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.
Solomon was a king of excellence. Everything surrounding him had an extra touch of excellence. Even the workers serving at the table were groomed to display excellence. Nothing fell short of excellence
1Kings10:4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all Solomon’s wisdom, and the house that he had built, 5. And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel, and his cupbearers, and his ascent by which he went up unto the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.
I challenge you today, its not an accident that you are reading this article, God is calling you to excellence. Never compromise on quality in your home, church or at work. Never compromise on standards. Keep yourself fit and in shape. Manage your diet. Strive to excell. Whether you are a pastor, a musician, an entrepreneur, whatever you find your hands to do, display forth higher levels of excellence. 1Corinthians 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
I pray that God will richly bless you an prosper you in all your endeavors
